Simple Systems For LED Lamps

Energy efficient lights keep their way into the mainstream market. One of the most recent examples may be the Pali Momi Medical Center in Hawaii. This facility has replaced about 2300 fluorescents and compact fluorescents with LED technology, reducing their utility bill by over 50%!

While LED light bulbs offer an initial cost much more than CFLs, their lifetime makes up for this. LEDs may last providing 100,000 hours, in comparison to compact fluorescents which may last from 10,000 to 15,000 hours. The higher initial charges are usually paid inside the first year of usage, with each consecutive year being pure savings. A spokesperson for that Pali Momi Medical Center expects their investment in LEDs to be repaid by savings in around 15 months, with the savings continuing for many years.

Impressive savings have been seen in the Honolulu airport, where a large retrofit of parking garage lighting is saving $100,000 30 days on electricity. If they conducted similar retrofits in other airport facilities, the savings would be incredible. LED bulbs not simply save lots of money over time, however they are better for the environment than compact fluorescents. CFLs contain mercury and emit UV rays, while LEDs contain no toxic chemicals , nor produce UV rays.

Airports aren't the one places that can benefit from LED lights. Any business or government installation can help to conserve huge amounts of money by replacing incandescents with these energy efficient lighting solutions. In addition to money and electricity savings, switching to LEDs is a good approach to take green.
